Culture Experience

Our Easy Peking Learning Centre offers an array of cultural courses for those interested in Chinese culture.  Through such course work, you will learn about Chinese culture and be under the instruction of a professional Chinese cultural teacher.  Lastly, you will get in touch with an authentic China and have an amazing Chinese experience!

Course offerings:

Tai Chi

Tai Chi Chuan (also taijiquan, meaning “Supreme Ultimate Fist”),  is a Chinese martial art that combines self-defense with physical and mental fitness.  It is practiced today primarily for its health benefits, stress relief and relaxation.  The slow, continuous movements are designed to stimulate the flow of energy within the body, with the goal of improved mind and body connection. The Tai Chi course will also offer a bridge into Chinese culture with the chance to practice Tai Chi with locals.  Increasingly popular both in China and throughout the world, Tai Chi Chuan offers benefits to both body and mind and is a perfect way to relax.

Chinese Kong Fu

Kung Fu could be defined as any of the various Chinese martial arts.  Chinese Kung Fu was studied, organized and standardized by the Shaolin monks.  The Shaolin Temple (Shaolin Si) is the birthplace of Kung Fu.  Kung Fu is known for its many animal styles such as the Tiger, Crane, Dragon, Monkey, Praying Mantis and Snake styles. 

Chinese Calligraphy

Chinese Calligraphy is a traditional art, once a major subject for Chinese scholars in the Imperial times. Outside of China, it is also recognized as a unique art form.  Our Calligraphy course is a fun and simple way for you to learn this traditional craft.  The Calligraphy course is a professional class that emphasizes the nuances of the language, giving a deeper understanding of the Chinese characters and a great medium which your own artistic creativity can be freely expressed!

Chinese Ceramic

Ceramics are not only a form of creative expression, but also a method for you to understand the rich and ancient civilization of the Chinese.  By exploring a variety of forms, this class will focus on hand-building skills, which helps you develop imagination and creativity, at the same time improving hand-eye coordination.  Bring a date or special friend and have fun making pottery together!  For those new to clay, we will introduce the hand-building technique.  Your works will be clear glazed and fired for later pickup.

Chinese Knotting Techniques

A wonderful traditional Chinese art, the Chinese knotting techniques express Chinese wisdom, culture and have deep meaning.  People use a long silk thread to make their knot , expressing their infinite feelings and wishes.  “What wishes you have in your heart, will inspire the wonderful knot you that you will create.”  Here, the Chinese knot instructor will teach you basic knots; also instructing you how to make more original knots which you can not buy elsewhere.  You will not only learn about Chinese knotting, you will learn about Chinese culture as well.

 

Chinese Singing Course

Do you want to be the life of the party? Do you want to make more Chinese friends? Do you want to sing Chinese songs of your choice without hesitation?  Our Chinese Singing course is a class that will teach you the most popular Chinese songs as well as the most appropriate time to perform them.  Learning Chinese songs is also an excellent way to improve your Chinese skills and express your musical talent.    Your local friends will not only be thoroughly impressed, they’ll be singing along with you too!

Chinese Traditional Snack

Chinese are famous for their cuisine and traditional snacks.  Traditional Chinese holidays are celebrated with different snacks:  Mooncakes are eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival, sweet dumplings during the Lantern Festival, and zong zi, glutinous rice dumplings are eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival.  Thus, you can enjoy Chinese snacks while learning more about Chinese culture at the same time!
